FS: Overton Low D, Silver Anodized, Non-Tuneable

Putting the bug in some ears…

In about 3 weeks I’ll be selling my trusty Colin Goldie Overton Silver Anodized Non-Tuneable Low D. A fantastic whistle. Fellow session players agree. Classic Overton (Colin Goldie) tone.

Perfect condition minus one bump:

I (very slightly) dinged the corner of the mouthpiece awhile ago. Sent pictures to Brigitte and Colin when I was thinking about sending it in to have the tiny little ridge filed off. We decided that it wasn’t even worth it. It doesn’t affect the tone/playability whatsoever.

I can send photos/sound files to anyone interested.

Why do you sell it?

Hi Pyroh,

I ordered a tuneable model from Colin, which I just learned should be here in around 3 weeks or so. I ordered a tuneable model because the session I play at tends to tune a bit on the high side. I’ve found that in my walk from the car into the pub in these Wisconsin winters, the pitch tends to be on the low side when I first pull it out the case. This is pretty typical of these whistles, and after putting some breath through them, they do pull up into perfect tune. I’d like to be able to adjust it immediately, though, to other instruments that play a little on the sharp side without waiting for the barrel to heat up.

So I’ll be passing the non-tuneable on when the new one gets here. This particular whistle has gotten much praise for its tone. I played it before over 15,000 people last December, and it got raves. Everyone loves seeing this thing at the session as well.

Got the new whistle on Friday, so it’s time to pass on my Low D… PM me an offer (or any questions) if you’re interested. I’ll give it a chance to go through the board before putting it up on eBay. Give me a little time to reply to messages - I’m out on the road playing concerts like crazy here before Christmas, and am not always around an internet connection…
