FS: O'Grady Practice and Half set

In order to approach my goal of getting a full set I am putting my current pipes up for sale. Both sets were made by Neil O’Grady and are currently in Colorado.

The practice set was purchased new in 2003. It is in D and has three keys. Everything works fine. I purchased the half set used later that same year. There are a couple of solder failures, but they don’t seem to affect the sound. Chanter reeds and synthetic drone reeds made by O’Grady in 2004.

PM me for details or to make an offer on either/both. I will try to get pictures this afternoon.

Well, I accomplished my goal of obtaining a great full set in the key of B. I hope to get some pictures taken soon to post on the pictues thread. In the meantime I still have the O’Grady Practice and Half sets if anyone is interested. I figured I would offer them again here before listing them them elsewhere.
PM me with questions or for more info.

What kind of B set did you score Uill?

Doc

I acquired the B set from Brad Angus. It is Ebony and Brass with imitation ivory mounts, hollow main stock, stiched belows… It is truly a joy to play and I always look forward to hours I spend sitting in the kitchen playing, with the requisite ear to ear grin that is.

Ahhh, nice. Did you get it from Brad hisself?

If so, may I ask what the wait was?

I had a Narrow bore D chanter of Brad’s come through the store a year or so ago. I sold it in a weak moment and have been kicking myself regularly since.

I bought the set from the man himself, who by the way was great to talk to and do business with. The wait was negligible, I happpened to contact him at a time while he was in the process of finishing an instrument that was not already spoken for. It of course helped that he was working on exactly what I was looking for.

An obvious coalescing of the planets and stars into a rare pattern which was pleasing to the piping gods. Lucky you…Congrats!

… shame, shame. One must capitalize the G, or risk their wrath. :smiling_imp:

Sorry about that…ear to ear Grin:D

Ye Gods! No wonder my reed was flakey today!

I’ll have to offer penance by loudly playing my Ronan Browne CD with the windows down at an intersection.
