I bought the whistle in February 2009 (about 2 years ago) but I’ve only played it a few times. The reason I’ve not played it much is because I was transitioning to flute when I ordered the Abell. By the time I received it I’d stopped playing whistle and was only playing flute. The whistle comes with a padded velvet lined carry case. It is a shame to leave a great whistle like this unused so I’m putting it up for sale.
Sorry but I’ll only sell within the UK due to the costs associated with selling abroad. I paid £350 due to exchange rates at the time, but I’m asking for £300. This is how much the whistle and case would cost at current exchange rates but you would also have to pay the import tax and shipping on top of that (not to mention skipping the waiting list). I will also pay postage and packing.
There has been some interest in the whistle via PMs asking for reviews and photos. A quick search of this forum should show that Abell whistles are very highly regarded. But if you want to hear a review, take a look at Tony Hinnigan’s review at the links below. For those of you who don’t know him he earns his living playing on movie sound tracks. He is the guy who plays all the whistle tracks in the Titanic movie. He says he literally turns up to a set with a lorry load of instruments for producers to choose from, for him to play on the movie (the guy plays a lot of instruments!). He says he plays his Abell D on virtually everything and its the instrument he plays more than anything apart from his cello. He gets to the Abell at the end of the first link and finishes of at the beginning of the second.
