For Sale: Breedlove Quartz OO

I simply don’t have enough time to practice flute for 2+ hours a day AND give mandolin serious attention. I’m also going to need far more green for flute making tools than I have any way to reasonably come up with, so at this point I’m thinking the Breedlove has to go (I’ve already sold off a bunch of other stuff.)

It’s a really great mando, I love the tone, quality workmanship, neck, and action, so the fact that I’m seriously considering selling it has nothing to do with the mando, and everything to do with my priorities at this point in time.

I’d figured I’d mention it here, before I put it up on the cafe or ebay, since I’d be happier “keeping it in the family” so to speak.

I think I’d be looking to get $750. for the mandolin, plus a nice hard case. This Particular Breedlove Quartz OO has a relatively rare, and very nice looking $300+ Black Binding Upgrade.

If anyone has interest, feel free to PM me. I’ll likely be making the final decision to sell in about a week.

I totally understand, though. i’m seriously looking at selling a lot of my stuff as well – i’ve come to the conclusion that i’ll never really be a box player, for example. And i have a bunch of flutes i don’t play.

Still, it’s been fun talking mandolins with ya.

Thanks Rob. It is a bit sad, but I plan to keep an eye out for a steal on a good mando - a nice old gibby, in perfect condition, for $50

However, even failing that, I love mando and fully expect to get back in the game down the road, I simply have to focus on flute playing and flute/whistle making for the moment. I’ve got a very strong urge to build some mandos as well at some point, for my own satisfaction, so I look at this as only temporary.

Now, about those flutes you need to get rid of… :smiling_imp:

Okay, after spending more considering tooling costs, I’ve decided the Breedlove is definately for sale. If anyone here is seriously interested, drop me a line via PM, and I’ll give you more details.

Thanks,

Loren

This is indeed a sad day. We’ve enjoyed so much of this adventure we call “mandolin” . . . don’t stay away too long. Get those flutes rolling quick so you can get two mando’s!

If I had the money I would snap this up. That price is too good. These go new for about $1199 withOUT the black binding option (and Bailey Strap). I found one online with a soft, not hard case, and it’s sale price was $959.20 and it does not have the black binding which really dresses it up. This is a HOT deal!!! Someone buy it so I don’t have to think about it.

Thanks Matt. Heck, who knows, you might be buying a Bookbinder Mandolin one day

And for the record, I’m keeping the strap, it’s not going with the mando, it’s just too cool.

It’s too bad the new letterpress tags weren’t done when you bought yours . . . maybe Loren can send you one so you can roll it up on your shelf with the tag on, as if it were new, waiting to be put on (another) mandolin

And on the Bookbinder mandolin . . . maybe we can swap an Alespa for a Bookbinder

I ran across a guy that’s been making F-bodies over the last three years. I believe it’s more of a hobby. He lives a drive away, but I’m hoping to spend some time over there on his next instrument . . . that is something I would definitely like to try. The worst thing that can happen is to fail.

I know the feeling man. I am considering selling my Tenor Banjo as I don’t play it. You got to know your priorities.

Hey, if you are a planning to be making Bb Flutes, I may have to sell my TB and try one out. I have been holding onto it, but a Burns all Mopane is only $600 and I am already selling my GHBs. I go through these selling sprees on occasion, I only regret getting rid of my Low Whistles out of every thing I have sold.

The mandolin is sold.
