I’ve owned or sampled most of the whistles out there now, and it’s time to debulk a little. Pretty much all the whistles I’m keeping are either wood, Water Weasels, Burkes, or Harpers. I like all of these that I’m listing to varying degrees, but don’t play them.

I’ve had Charlie’s Highlander Alba on loan for a while: a very cool whistle. It is striking visually: quite thick, beautiful, and with a “foot” type ring. It does take a bit of air, but the sound is sweet almost mellow. It’s on the loud side, as most Albas, but less so than some of the aluminum hi D Alba’s I’ve played. Incidentally, it has a very old look to it, like something you could bring to a ren fair. Great whistle, if you don’t mind doing a bit of work with your breath.
One fish two fish red fish blue fish is my favorite Seuss book right now. I can still hardly get through parts of it without laughing out loud. Somehow the toddler doesn’t find it as funny as, say, Sylvester running into a frying pan.
It is a fine whistle; the only reason I’m unloading this one is I have a D+.
