Erik the Flutemaker: check him out

check this guy out, he is a great guy who makes great woodwinds for a great price. also lives in florida. http://eriktheflutemaker.com/

I think this is the same guy who used to sell flutes at the Sterling Forest Renaissance Faire in New York years ago. Maybe he still does. Real nice guy. Cool folksey flutes of all kinds.

he does sell his flutes at the renaissance festivals. it probably is him.

very close to where i live, as it happens… i had no idea.

you live in florida too? cool.

not cool for much longer… it’s almost summer…

it was summer 4 weeks ago  thats what it feels like. what city you from?

i’m near Ft Lauderdale, in Broward county… where the South ends and the Caribbean begins…

so does anyone have a whistle of his? I haven’t heard much about 'em.

oops, I thought we were in the whistle forum

He sells whistles. Bamboo bodies, susato mouthpieces.

some think they’re in the florida forum …

Some are permanently in the grumpy forum :stuck_out_tongue:

How about them flutes, eh?

I never could get along very well with Erik’s flutes.

But then again, I’m not really much of a flute player either. That said, I have bamboo flutes from other makers that I’ve gotten along better with.

I have an Erik ‘Brazilian Major’, which is a G flute. I like it pretty well. It’s light as a feather, and plays well in tune. Since getting it, I have made PVC flutes that I prefer, though.

I also had a D ‘Irish’ flute that I got for peanuts on eBay. I wasn’t able to negotiate the large fingerholes and spread. In that price range, I far prefer a Tipple.

i have one of his a minor flutes . . . quite fun!

I have quite a few of Erik’s flutes. They have circle embouchures, which can be a bit demanding. The tuning on the cheaper ones can be a bit out of tune, but his tuned flutes are quite playable, and the different scales are fun.
