I just got notice by PM of Denny being in his last hours. He was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer last Fall, and only his family knew. I certainly didn’t.
At times like this I never know what to say, except that many of us will miss him.
This is awful. Denny is a character hereabouts and I shall miss him very much. I have come to regard him as a friend over the last few years, having communicated with him a fair bit, not only in the forums, but in PMs, e-mails and also over on Facebook. He was extremely helpful to me when I first picked up the flute some four years ago, and remained so ever since. Some of his suggestions are firmly incorporated into my playing, and always will be.
I am sad. My best wishes go to his family and thanks to them also for nurturing a sensitive and caring person who had it in him to reach out, even over the ocean, to help others.

Damn. Through the magic of the internet Denny has become an old an valued friend. An all-around good egg, ready with a cheery word and sound advice. May it go well with you, Denny, wherever you be.
Oh, this is bad news, innit. I missed him here for the past few weeks, but chalked it up to Christmas chaos.

I’ve become really fond of Denny and will miss him a lot.
Denny will be missed. He has been a constant on the Forums as long as I’ve been here. I have greatly enjoyed the APODs and Ted lectures he found and posted. His command of emoticons is a wonderful thing to see in action. Always helpful and a great sense of humor. All I can say is 
Ah, Denny, Denny, Denny. This world is losing a great soul. I will miss you, my friend. Mind our horses, hold me a seat at the session, and I owe you a pint on the other side.

Ach, only just seen this thanks to Cat’s FB post. How sad and awful. Like all above, I shall miss his wit, support, camaraderie and generosity. Go gently, Denny. For me he has been the real spirit of C&F.
If anyone finds out that there’s a favorite charity his family would like us to donate in his memory to, please let us know.

My deepest sympathy for him and his family and all his friends in many lands.
