Greetings Tooterphiles,
I would like to thank all those who have been such a great support to our work with the Foyer de Sion orphanage in Haiti. Since the earthquake, the Irish flute and whistle community has been a great blessing to the kids. People are busking, doing benefit concerts, passing the hat after gigs or in their church choirs and donating instruments to be sold for the children.
It’s been a blessing to count you all as friends in the best of times, but you have been a tremendous support to me personally and to the kids I love during these tough past few weeks.
We’ve gotten most of the 250 children in our care to the US on humanitarian parole as they were already in the process of being adopted by someone. We are rapidly filling their vacancies with other needy orphans (no shortage of orphans in Hait these days I’m sad to say.) With the donations recently received, we have sent several cargo planes down with food, water and medical supplies. We have started moving the children out of Port au Prince to our construction site out in the country (Croix de Bouquet).

Also, on a happy personal note, it looks like two boys I’ve been trying to adopt from Haiti are among those getting granted humanitarian parole (three of my kids grew up and moved away and the house was getting kind of empty with only 10 kids rambling around). ;0)
