I’m selling my Copeland nickel-silver D whistle. I haven’t played for a while and a whistle this good needs more attention.
My starting price is $300 USD, but obviously I will take other bids. Buyer pays shipping costs.
I’d be happy to send pictures and show you the whistle on Skype.
You can contact me at atbourassa@gmail.com
Just wanted to update on the Copeland sale. The latest offer is $400 USD.
I will keep the bidding period open until Friday at midnight EST.
Thanks

I have a Copeland D myself that I consider selling sometime in the future, and I would
be pleased if you could inform me about the final selling price.
Thanks, and happy selling.
I didn’t know C&F was an auction site!

Yeah, we’re kind of at a loss on this. So for the moment, it’s OK. - Moderator
I’d rather see the whistle offered on UIE or the Forum than on any of the eThingyCraigy lists. I’d think that fair pricing would take place here than on the wildwest eBidding. Why didn’t the whistle get posted to UIE?
Because the seller is a new user.
Maybe so. But the Chiffboard is not a Craigslist. It’s supposed to be a discussion board, with buying and selling an added benefit for regular contributors.
I kinda figured that and I’ve read the policy… so a good alternative would be posting to Whistle Forum… and if deemed necessary Mods could move to UIE.
I’d love to see photos of this Copeland D whistle. Just saying…
Sorry for creating confusion. I’m selling as auction because I really don’t know the value of the whistle today.
Ytliek: I have posted pics on my twitter feed.

I reviewed the board rules and could find nothing forbidding this kind of sale.
I can also be contacted at atbourassa@hotmail.com
Thanks

No problem, Alan. We’re currently reviewing our buy/sell policies. Meanwhile, your offer is OK.
If you’re updating the current price on your Twitter feed - now $625 (US or CAN?) - you should update it here as well.
Cheers!
Good news for bidders. Last offer pulled out, so high bid is now $400.
Friday Midnight EST is still deadline.
Thanks
seems like a few would have had to drop to bring it to my original $400?
my 2 pence worth
I’m not happy with whistles being sold this way on this site.
If a seller wants get as much as possible or a whistle or what ever they are selling then
use eBay or other auction sites but not here please.

While I am not sure I disagree but I also think that it’s hardly the first time a call for best offer has been made in a for sale post. Either by inviting the highest offer or by setting a very high price and going down slowly until there is a nibble from a buyer.
I suppose it’s hard to draw a line, is it unfair to allow ridiculously overpriced instruments to be offered via the forums but to disallow sales by inviting the best offer? I don’t really have an answer to that.
I don’t envy the mods who have to draw the lines and do it in a fair way. I would encourage them to keep a tight leash on commercial posts though, there’s enough hot air going around as it is.
I do thank you sutpen for posting to C&F rather than eBay or Craigslist as the instrument ought (IMHO) to remain within the “ultimate whistle community”, among whistle players who will play, care for and maintain it properly, rather than going to some investor, dealer, with no interest in whistles who are in it for re-sale and mere profit. Perhaps the whistle bids, best offers should remain private as eSelling does.
After reading the statement on the status of Copeland whistles… again, I do think that C&F (UIE) is the place for posting whistles for sale and especially to keep abreast of what a fair price whistles are selling for. Yes, I agree with the posting policy so it is tricky situation.
However, Copeland whistles are worth discussing even when its a selling matter. Value? Its what one is willing to pay… let’s discuss it… again, if necessary. All the whistlemakers in fact…
I’m with Narrowdog – if you are a member of the CF and want to sell a whistle to the CF community on the UIE and you ask those interested to make you an offer via private message or email, I think that’s fair and appropriate, and I don’t have a problem with that. But this forum isn’t an all-comers ebay, and I would rather it not become an ebay. Personally, I’d be very leery of buying a whistle from someone who ostensibly joined the community only to sell a very well-know whistle and who claims he has no idea what the value of that whistle is. The tremendous advantage of buying whistles from other CF’ers is that there is a history there and a sort of verification of identity; I assume that’s the reason behind the policy re why he couldn’t just post it in the UIE. This is ultimately the moderators’ call, but I think allowing this sort of “post sell” in the future would make fraud on the CF far more likely. And I think that concern is valid irrespective of the debate between the “true” v “perceived” value of whistles. My two bits.

What’s the latest bid?
How 'bout that new user quota ~ 3 posts required before any new member can post anything on the Used Instrument Exchange?
Caveat emptor - Buyer beware, as this is a brand new member.
If you decide to buy, make sure you use a service like Paypal, but don’t use Paypal gift, as you have no recourse if the whistle isn’t shopped to you.
Always use gift when paying w/PayPal. There’s no reason to create more (?) expense : - P for the seller when it isn’t necessary.
(sarcasm)
I improvised on the emoticon. C&F has terrible emoticons; seriously.

Yeah, not so much – I’m going to go with WhistlingRufus on this one.
