Comet Meets Ring Nebula: Part II

Did you notice the faint galaxy to the lower left of the Ring Nebula? :sunglasses:

Is that where you come from?

(sorry, couldn’t resist  )

Actually, I come from a weirder place than that! :smiling_imp:

IOW, he’s from…

Cool image Denny. My mornings would not be less enjoyable if it weren’t for your links. Thanks.

I’m not sure what you said.

Seems negative this morning!

There seems to be a possibility that his mornings could be more enjoyable If I’d quit posting these things.

Well, I like to see them, even though I already have a favourite link to Astronomy Picture of the Day. I like to know what the denizens of this anomalous college think of the images.

I’m surprised no-one has posted an obscene construction on this one. Seems like a gift to me. Is this only a Yurpeen double-entendre?

I guess so, 'cause you lost me…

“Ring” = “Anus”.

For example:

The Comedienne Dawn French did a wonderful take off of “Lord of the Rings” in which she played Frodo. In one scene they all crouched under a (very small) bush while the “Dark Rider” trotted around them on his horse, trying to scent Frodo. Dawn French whispered to the others: “He’s sniffing my ring.”

…you had to be there.

But a very hot curry is known as “a ring-stinger.”

A 'Merkin might be more likely to make a joke about the Pacific “Rim”. Same connotation, in the end.

:smiling_imp:

Yeah, just imagine it was called the “Rim” nebula.
Boy, that comet sure came close.

Looking back at the photo, the comet looks like it’s vaporous matter being ejected. A galactic cutting of the cheese, if you will.

Perhaps it would help if you substituted IB’s curry image with a good chili, and instead of playing Dawn French, put on some Johnny Cash singing about the Ring of Fire.

Twas a one cup of coffee (read not nearly enough) editing glitch. The word ‘not’ wasn’t supposed to be there.
