I was thinking of purchasing a Chieftain alto G whistle. Does anybody have any experience with this whistle (good or bad) ?
Thank you

I have an A which is one of my all time favourite whistles. I tried the G several times but was disappointed with the lacklustre tone compared to the A and it also required a lot more air. The A is a beauty IMO.
I don’t have a Chieftain low G, but I have had other Chieftains, and the quality was good. However, Burkes and Albas are significantly cheaper, and just as good if not better.
I have a Kerry pro low G which is a great whistle, Phil no longer makes these in G anymore but there is one on ebay or there was a few days ago, the low notes have an amazing sound IMO, the high notes up to high g are quite easy to master with good breath control and emboucher,
and the high A and B need to be confidently played. I have had mine for a couple of weeks and the high A and B are the only two notes I need to put more time in on, I had a Overton alto G 6 months ago and although the head design does look similar the tone holes on the kerry are very different in size and finish I myself prefer the kerry pro, but it is all down to each person own taste, the key of g is a great key and the finger stretch is very manageable, I have not played the chieftain, but its well worth takeing at look at the kerry pro on ebay, if it has’nt already sold.
