Chicago Celtic Fest

Who’s coming to Chicago for the Tionol this year, should be great!

Would the tional be an appropriate place to bring my starter set with the reed problems to see if someone who really knew what they were doing has the same problems? :boggle:

I’ve been to the tional in prior years, it usually looks like an intimate (for a fest) pipe concert, by some great pipers.

I’ll be there either way.

It’s the weekend of Sept. 17 right? I’ll be in chicago that week. Where is it? Maybe I can get my family over there to swing me on over for a bit.

Sat. the 17th, there will be workshops at 9:00am, where I believe Tim Britton will be working with reeds(?).

The Fest is in Grant Park, at Jackson and Columbus, the 17th and 18th.

Here’s the schedule:

Thanks for the info. Forgot to ask how much the classes cost though. Thanks, see you guys there.

There is no cost, but the tuition is highly informal. Be down at the tent on Saturday between 9AM and Noon for reed triage; if your kit is running well we can work on technique issues (as with any instrument, how you hold the instrument and your body while playing it makes a world of difference) and then possibly a tune or two before the sound checks begin. I am informed by a usually reliable source that Tim Britton will be available to help with reeds.

Hope to see some of you there.
