I would like to hear your opinions on this whistle because I am thinking about ordering one. Any sound clips of scales and tunes would be helpful to make sure I would be making the right decision.
Yes I just watched that. That is the regular Low D from Alba. 'Tis the more recent Q1 I am wondering about. Especially about its breath requirements and back pressure. I have a Plastic Dixon one piece Low D which is almost too easy to play. It jumps into the second octave far too easily for my liking. I really want to know if the Q1 requires a bit of âpushâ to play.
Didnât actually do the search. I remembered having watched it before.
(WARNING: Minor thread hi-jack)
To others reading this thread, situations like this is why i suggested in another thread that we should try to build a âwhistle video libraryâ on youtube.
Iâm just a beginner with a few Megâs and a Generation, i need the help of you people out there with WhOA.
John, Hi from N. Wales!
Nice pics. Iâm afraid your clips links arenât working, for me at any rate - they just open a Tiscali page with a ânot recognisedâ message.
Unfortunately I have only ever played this and my plastic Dixon one piece low D. The tone is fuller, slightly less pure and more chiffy. The backpressure is much higher than on my Dixon which has hardly any. The volume is much louder than my quiet Dixon. I wish I had other low whistles to compare it too⌠but I know I wonât be in the market for a low whistle for quite some time because the Alba is beautiful, and fits all my needs musically. You can really choose to play it softly or push it until it honks which is great. The tuning slide is good and is fitted on the vibe as standard which makes it a whole lot of whistle for the price ÂŁ90.
Stacie has really cleaned up her designs from a few years ago. The low D I had was really clunky looking, kinda grundgy compared to the Overton whistles.
