Madagascar rosewood whistle serialno 1094 with case,
Price is £150 pounds sterling in cash.
Is in wonderful condition and plays beautifully but flute repair bill forces sale.
crossley30@hotmail.com Cheers,Simon.
I suppose lots of you know exactly how this flute looks and sounds,
but how 'bout some pics of the body, the head, the embouchure etc…and some samples?
I’d like that
I think it’s a whistle and not a flute for sale here.
Mmmm, I love the smell of Madagascar Rosewood…
Loren
Loren,
This is an imaginary whistle so you will have a hard time smelling it!!
Hi Loren,
Thought all the good guy’s up and left!
Hope you’re doing ok.
Best Wishes,Godbless Simon.
My favorite is freshly turned Olivewood…
Most woods lose the aroma shortly after being worked, but I have a Palisander Rosewood recorder which I bought in the mid 70’s that STILL smells wonderful after I play it for a little while. Wonder where I can get some of that timber…
I have an Eb/D/C Abell Madagascar set of my own, so I’m all set for some serious wood huffing
I probably should have held on to that A/Bb set I had Chris make me as well. I forget, who ended up with that? I really should have at least been patient enough to break those in before selling 'em off. Live and learn, or be dumb enough to repeat, whatever
Loren
Thanks Simon. I spend the limited free time I have mostly over on the flute board, but get over here now and again, enough to see you’ve offered up some nice whistles in recent months. Good luck with the sale, and take care.
Loren
Yeah Madagascar Rosewood is similar, the smell lasts for years.
I’ll keep an eye out for Palisander and let you know if I run across any. I seem to recall seeing the occasional recorder we made from the stuff coming back into the shop for routine maintanance, but I can’t recall seeing any down in our wood storage room. OTH, we has so much stuff down there it would be easy to miss.
Loren
Hey Loren,
I’ve still got the Abell A/Bflat set. I got these directly from Chris but when you and I corresponded we decided they were ones you had originally ordered…if I remember correctly. I like them and they developed a more pure sound than they started with. They are keepers as far as I’m concerned. I can send them to you to try again if you’d like.
Or at least this is one set. You may have had others.
take care
jim d
Yes, that’s right, you ended up with them Jim. As I recall they still have the serial numbers on them that I asked Chris to stamp so they matched my original high pitched set, #606, right?
Thanks for the offer to let me try them out again, but I’d better pass - I don’t want to know what I gave up! If you ever decide to sell them though, please let me know. Glad to hear they worked out so well for you
Loren
