Time to start discussing dates for the barbeque/whistle gathering we talked about last Nov. Ideally a day when the most people can show up. I was thinking in the June-July time frame. My mom is all for supplying the house again. I’m hoping for a nice weather period so we can hang out on the back patio. (It’s a lot different when it’s not pouring rain.) Otherwise, it’s back into the kitchen.

Well, I wasn’t here last November–and didn’t quite make it to the Low Whistle Fest, either–but can I come?
I think July would be good for me. (I don’t know that I’d want to play in front of anyone else, but I gotten far enough along that I’m anxious to see some other folks play in real life.)

July would be better for me, as it gives me more time to put in for a Saturday off.
June…it stays light later, and I will not be on a vacation, somewhere.

Sounds like fun, but we need more clues!!!
Where is your Mom’s house?
Tony ya lazy bum, why dontcha load the house up on a flat bed and bring it here to Boston so we can have an east coast event this year?
Loren
Sandy, Tony’s mom lives here in the bay area. Are you going to join us?
If it’s in early June I’ll try to make it. I guess I am over my fear of meeting you guys now.
Justine
We’re not a scary bunch, Justine. Everybody’s really nice.
AMEN!!!
Well, I see three volunteers to organize a Right coast event!!!
Anytime is fine with me. Late June or early July. Like BH, the earlier the date is set the better for vacation planning.
July 4 is a Sunday. How about the Saturday following that, July 10? Or the weekend prior, June 26.
That’s good to know. I really should get out and meet more of you local South Bay musicians, anyway. Practically the only musicians I know down here on the peninsula are my fellow uilleann pipers.
I’m going to Ireland for most of the summer, though, so if I don’t make it, have fun without me and I’ll catch you at the next one.
J.
I might suggest June 5 before most of the Dads/Grads or June 26 to be clear of it. Vacations really kick in as of July 1st for many.
Yeah, I’d have that smirky grin if I were spending the summer in Ireland, as well! Luck to ye, and we’ll see you at the next one, then!
Hey, I missed that. It is like:
Neener, Neener!
So, does the 26th work for you better 'dogin?
San Francisco free folk festival is June 26/27.
Tony ya lazy bum, why dontcha load the house up on a flat bed and bring it here to Boston so we can have an east coast event this year?
Well, Loren, not that I think you’re asking too much or anything…I was thinking of a crane helicopter but my mom put the kibosh on that. I’m afraid the best we can do is teleconference you in. Be sure and hold up a recorder to the camera.
Tony
Well, I aint going to SF Folk Fest …I am too much of a SNOBE.
What brought that up? Actually, I’ll be doing a 1hr whistle workshop on the Sat (I think it’s 6/27; I’ll make sure…) I won’t be allowing any snoby-types to participate. I think I’ll teach every one ‘My Heart Will Go On’ and maybe, Danny Boy. Sounds like a wiener, wouldn’t you say? As a matter of fact, I think I’ll bring a bunch of recorders (flutaphones) and surprise everyone.
