Monte Cristo, WA is a ghost town. (It was a mining town.) The trails from there traverse some steep terain. Miners didn't believe in switchbacks...straight up/down no sideways. Given years of erosion the only thing left are the bigger rocks. This is an area where an avalanche run looks like a hiway.
If ya liked light the above should be a field day for ya!
