Poll Ha'penny

Post by mike delta »

Hi,
I was listening to a recording of Ronan Brown playing Poll Ha’penny. I’m not at home at present so I can’t refer anyone to the actual CD but I’m almost certain it is on one of these two CD albums’: “A New Dawn” or “The Drones & Chanter’s 2”.
I looked for the dots on Session.Org but although they have several versions (played as a dotted hornpipe), not one of them sounded (to my ears anyhow) like the Brown version.
If anyone has listened to the Ronan Brown version of Poll Ha’penny and can direct me to a written source it would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

He plays Bobby Casey's version of it on the D&C, if I remember correctly. I have it written down somewhere but it's probably easier to find a printed version if you need it. Can't think where straight off although I have seen at least one. It's Willie week here. And three in the morning. G'luck.

Added: this should go a long way shouldn't it?

Hi Peter,
Thanks. Sounds near enough to my ears.

Tell us something.: Here for a bit to get info on adding another keyed lefty flute to my instrument collection. Preferably something from a highly respected maker. Been playing since 2006.

Bit of necroposting, but this is one of my favorite tunes so what the heck. .

A similar setting appears on

The Thing Itself [https://www.amazon.com/Thing-Itself-Mae ... B0002SVE14]
All Covered In Moss, where it is listed as "Hawk's Hornpipe." [https://www.cdbaby.com/cd/alisonperkinsnicolasbrow]
My name is John. It is NOT "OP." :) :)
