A Game of Flutes: The Red Wedding

Post by ChrisLaughlin »

Chiffboard members have very strong opinions about which flutes are better than others, and which are the best. Unfortunately these opinions are spread across hundreds, if not thousands, of threads and are difficult to compile, compare, analyze, and come to any meaningful conclusion on the basis of. As such, I humbly propose that we have a single, dedicated, pinned thread where members can come argue about which flute is best and why. Does that sound like fun? Good.... prepare to blow your own flute!

The point here is to argue about flutes, preferably as subjectively as possible. If you people are unwilling to argue about flutes we could also argue about the following:

- The Rolling Stones, Beatles, or Led Zeppellin
- XBox, Playstation, or Nintendo
- Android, iPhone, or Windows Phone
- McDonald's, Burger King, or Wendy's
- Baseball or Cricket
- Gridiron Football, Football (soccer), Australian Rules Football, Gaelic Rules Football
- Beer, wine, or spirits
- Democracy, Socialism, Communism, or Fascism
- Democrats, Republicans, or Independents
- Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, or any other religion
- Clare, Galway, or Sligo

Have at it!

A Game of Flutes: The Red Wedding

Good call. Here's a good discussion - if each of the families from A Game of Thrones played flute, which maker's flute and model would each play, and why?

In retrospect, I suppose I ought to have named this thread "A Game of Flutes: The Red Wedding"

The best flute ever made is my flute. It is a blackwood keyless Marcus Hernon flute and it is the best flute ever made because it is my flute!

Of course, we should include all flute types including the Modern Boehm Flute. Or Nose Flutes. Maybe even Skin Flutes..... (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3r23HrtTpY )

That will help clarify things.

Agreed. Except beer, of course, provided it's cask conditioned.

Darn, you're right. Mea culpa. Well, can we still at least argue about whose flute is best?
