FS: Rudall Carte 8-key "Eflat" flute

Post by Akiba »

I have a unique flute for sale: a Rudall Carte 8-key (serial #7279) made of ebonite with cylindrical bore, French slide, and is very high-pitched, playing very close in tune to the Irish Eflat flute. May have been originally made as a Dflat flute (as opposed to the normal Boehm C). Probably made in the 1920's or 30's.

It's a very light flute, which is very different than most "delrin" type flutes. The keys work well; could work a bit better with a little tune up. Easily sounds low D and C#; low C is a bit tough, but with a little adjustment should be strong. Easy to use long F key (normally I find this key impossible on most keyed flutes). Here are some sound samples:

Very in tune but for the usual flat F# (G) and low D (Eflat).

$700 plus shipping. PM if interested.

Thanks.
