Uilleann workshop in North Texas, October

Post by liestman »

Just to let y'all know, Kieran O'Hare will be the uilleann piping teacher at the O'Flaherty Irish Music Retreat in North Texas in October. Should be a great retreat, as this is the 10th annual and they are pulling out all the stops. Tons of other celebrity instructors and a great environment, so check it out at http://www.oflahertyretreat.org/ . (The uilleann class usually does not have very many students, so you get a lot of up close and personal instruction!) Hope to see all y'all there!

I think you're not allowed to use that colloquial contraction more than once - nor proceeded by the word "all" unless in the redundant plural/possessive form - "all's y'alls"...

I believe the correct collective pronoun for this situation is "you-uns".

You-uns is more limited to, oh, I dunno, Alabama. All Y'All is the preferred plural in Texas.

But I hope both you uns and all y'all can come to O'Flaherty!!! Both are welcome!!!

So will the Taylor Bros. be there as well? That'd be really cool.

Not to mention possible-Kenna & maybe-Egan! :-) Seriously, Seth, your best bet is to get as much as possible of your haul into the hands of the most knowledgeable pipers you can find, ASAP.

The collector-sharks are probably circling by now, preparing low bids (and velvet-lined display cases that pipes enter but seldom exit). Arm yourself with expert appraisals!

Anyhow, to veer back on topic, I'd love to join you guys myself. We'll see what my new employer has in mind for autumn, and I'll get away if I can!

Cheers,
Mick

Y'all don't know me from a hole in the ground, but I'll be there come October - I live less than a fifteen minute drive from the site, so I'd be hard pressed to come up with an excuse not to.

I've only been playing the pipes since May so I'm hoping to get my skills up enough by then so that I can get more out of the workshops and not sound like I'm killing a duck; however given the short amount of time between now and October, so consider yourselves warned.

Cheers,
-Bryan
