Have you had any luck finding a tutor yet ? We are based in South Wales and meet every 4-6 weeks , granted bit of a trek for you. South Western pipers meet in Taunton every month , again a bit of a trek. Our tionol is on 1st September , details on www.swalespipers.com or pm me here. There's a piper based in Hereford and you might find some pipers there close to you. Also mick O'Brien is tutoring so worth coming for that alone. Cheers Mei

Is there a reed making workshop at this years festival?

Yes Ferris , Martin Preshaw is scraping out some reeds , Alan Burton is there and while he's not doing the reed table he is a wealth of info. Cheers Mei

i remember hearing of a piper from northern ireland who was making reeds for m coulter and who was based in the midlands but i can't remember his name - he was a fantastic piper though

Thank you guys for the replies. I finally found a quality tutor. Im eager to get started. Now I am seeking a good set of used pipes. I just posted looking for some. I dont plan to buy brand new until I can play a bit. Thanks again. Sorry for the delay. Its been awhile since Ive been on here.
