I've been assigned to work in the Syracuse area for 3-4 weeks; new to the area, but not here long term.

Lovely. I'm in Utica, about an hour East. We've a few sessions here if you're up for a drive. There's also a festival here this weekend. A lot of crappy acts, but Solas will be one bright spot. I can send you more info if you're interested.

That's clever ... even if unintentional. :-)

It'd be great to hear Solas; it'd be great to go to sessions and well worth the drive to do both. I'd appreciate details about things in Utica.

The Utica session at Nail Street Pub is known for its friendliness. It's only once a month, but if you are there for the next one be sure to check it out. The Rome session is the same core group, but a little less established. I loved going to both when I was in CNY.

Oh, and totally off-topic: Syracuse and Utica both have very active Roller Derby leagues. They're turning it into a serious sport.
