How do you know you've "arrived"?

Post by rgouette »

when folk post details of the pipes you play..
ala...

Tiarnán first pipes were a practice set of Robbie Hughes pipes on loan from Brian Vallely.
He now plays a full concert set that Dave Williams made in 1997.
The set is made of African Blackwood and stainless steel.
Dave died tragically in 2004.
Tiarnán also plays an Eamonn Curran concert pitch boxwood 14 inch chanter and a B-flat chanter made by Brendan O Hare

It probably is, I remember seeing a close up of the chanter and it looked old, to old to be a curran chanter, but after a bit of searching I see that Eamonn Curran has been making chanters for a long time

I know when I've arrived when I see a sign that reads, "You are here". :D

I know when I've arrived because the kids stop saying, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet,

Gee, I've been onstage with Paddy Moloney. I know I hadn't "arrived" (whatever the heck that means), and I knew it at the time, too.

I think you can be sure that if you think you've "arrived", then you haven't.

And if you ask your local Buddist Uilleann piper he/she will tell you, that the very act of seeking arrivalment will restrict you from actually arriving.

They only play practise sets because they don't like to have any attachments.

To paraphrase the subject of the thread: You know you've arrived when everyone is talking about the pipes you play.

Dear God, I hope that's not true, but I fear it probably is, at least in part.

It's natural to be taken with the look of a shiny new set of pipes. I like to look at pipes. But I like to listen to them more.
