Speaking to an international crowd here, you have to qualify that query a little bit, don't you?dwest wrote:So is it just my imagination or does it feel like the days are getting longer?

Re: Winter
Nope, that's what happens after the solstice. That was on the 22nd, at 5:30 am or thereabouts. I noticed it too. It does seem to be marked, this year.

Doug can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe he was referring to such of our readership as might be living in Australia or Chile.Innocent Bystander wrote:Nope, that's what happens after the solstice.

Now you're going to tell me that one man's Samhain is another man's Bealtaine.

Re: Winter
Actually I haven't felt that the days are getting longer, although, since I live in the northern hemisphere, I know that the days do actually get a little bit longer each day as we pass the Winter solstice. However, for our friends in the summer hemisphere, as our days are getting longer, their days are getting shorter, which comes as no big surprise. So, as I mentioned earlier, the OP needed to qualify his query for it to make worldwide sense.dwest wrote:So is it just my imagination or does it feel like the days are getting longer?

You want to know something weird? I coulda sworn the days were getting longer before the solstice. I had to keep double-checking the calendar.

The thread title says "Winter." What season is it in the Southern Hemisphere?Doug_Tipple wrote:Actually I haven't felt that the days are getting longer, although, since I live in the northern hemisphere, I know that the days do actually get a little bit longer each day as we pass the Winter solstice. Re: Winter
Yes, but the title box and the content line are separated by a grey area which muddles the connection.dwest wrote:The thread title says "Winter." I don't think that the Grays do the blues that well...
