Liam Walsh

I've got the "From Galway to Dublin" CD...wow, Liam Walsh doing the "Bucks of Oranmore"...to me its just amazing piping...there are sounds in there, I'd have to see to believe they came from a set of Uilleann pipes...great stuff...Leo Rowesome does "the Dawn" , " Music in the Glen". Brilliant.

College Groves was always my favourite for it's irrepressible rhythm.

On a lot of his recordings compensating for his lost finger works against him and results in poorly covered holes, which is a shame.

Also a fan, I uploaded all of my LW years ago for your listening edification. Start with: The Blackbird (Decca version) : Liam Walsh : Free Download ....

The Decca stuff is his best, he'd gotten the hang of studios by then. Earlier cuts he's a bit nervous, fingers and tempos flying and like Mr Gumb says a lot of slop as a result. Deccas make the most of the slop, sort of. Willie Clancy had something similar going on, seems to me. It adds to the wildness and excitement.

He was missing the top of the left index finger, dunno if that was a factor. Doesn't sound like it.
