Tell us something.: Ready to be a decent flute player again! I took a break of about 17 years and it's been way too long.

Ok, what would you spend if you had $35? My significant other is wanting whistle ideas (with the Dixon G being most likely since I dont have a G) so she can 'secretly' order me a pc. for my instrument collection. What can we get for $35?

I already have a Chieftain Low D, Low F, and A., a Sindt D and A as well. Several Cheapies, also a Susato "Low D" and so....whatdya think?

The Big Dixon Low G pre-Christmas Rush!

Oddly, I ordered one yesterday for a friend for a combined Christmas and "thank you for being there through a rough patch" present, only to discover within hours that her other half had also ordered one for her two days before! I hurriedly changed my order for an A.

Anything down to a Dixon G should fit the bill, you might even get her to stretch (joke) to an F!

I use my Dixon Low D and mezzo-spinach A a lot, I am a part-time tooter so I need something that doesn't require major warm up time.

My current favorite is an original Clarke that has been tweaked by Thom Larson of the Whistle Shop. In fact I like it so much that I've been considering getting a second one to keep in my car. Price is approximately $25.

I addition to the Dixon idea, how about a tweaked O'Briain from Shanna Quay? Or maybe a case to carry them all?

Call Stone Brewing in San Diego and have them ship you six bottles of "Arrogant basmati Ale". Use the change to buy your wife a nice card.

Reminds me of the song "If I had a Million Dollars" by the Barenaked Ladies.

My favourite line:

"If I had a Million Dollars
I'd buy you a green dress
but not a real green dress, that's cruel"

Maybe you should hear the song...

Absolutely. If I had $35 to spend, that would be my first pick every time (the O Briain "improved"). It's an awesome whistle.

I've not yet played one of these but, in that price range, it's the only one that I'd really like to play. (I do like Clarkes by the way; I'm not against cheapies.) Failing that, put the money towards a Burke or an Overton or another Sindt—but you didn't want to be told that, did you?

Every time? Wouldn't you end up with an awful lot of improveds?

You have enough whistles. Serpent's suggestion is the best so far.

Sure! One for the car, one for next to the computer, one for the bathroom....

Or I could wait until I'd saved another $40 and pick up another Elfsong...that would be cool too

Frances Custy of Custy's Music shop gave me some money today for things she sold for me. I usually spend a part of those payments in the shop. So I blew some whistles thought 'yuk I have enough of those' and bought me Oisin MacDiarmada's CD ar an Bfidil which is probably a much wiser investment

I have to admit this Serpent guy is putting forth some terrific ideas of late. Throw in Michael McGoldrick's Fused cd and you're all set.

Harvey's Bristol Cream.
Jameson's 12-year-old whisky.

Otherwise, how about a Water Weasel "G". I love mine! And a great fireplace whistle --- the hours go by .............
