Whistle case question...
Hello, all my whistlin buddies...
I have a problem; I need cloth whistle cases. I saw once here a reference to a group that makes cloth cases for single whistles, and they had a little drawstring top on them that cinched the bag shut, with one of those little plastic closers with a string. I have never been very successful with the search button. Does anyone remember them? Git me a website?
By the way, I love visiting the Chiff site. Whenever I'm here awhile I go downstairs and play for about an hour. I don't have friends that whistle, so you're a real encouragement to me.

Re: Whistle case question...
Ebay usually has quite the selection.
This one is probably the cheapest available at the minute but you'll find prettier/fancier/more colourful ones as well, if you look.

These folks (North Art Heritage) also supply whistle bags to Sandy Jasper for her Elfsong Whistles, and will make them to order. The basic bag is simple and serviceable. No closer on the ones I have, though, just a drawstring.Mr.Gumby wrote:This one is probably the cheapest available at the minute

It seems that our own anniemcu (Sarah McUmber) has suspended making her Sassafrass line, but you could try contacting her:

It's a fairly easy project if you have a sewing machine or a friend with one.

Re: Whistle case question...
Sounds like you want a simple bag, so this may be off topic.
This past summer I saw someone with a nice padded bag that would hold 3 to 4 D -- maybe even C -- sized whistles. I asked about it and the owner had found it at The Container Store. If I remember correctly, it was originally intended to hold a curling iron. The owner had stitched a few vertical lines to act as dividers for the whistles. Looked very practical although I didn't examine it closely.

Those Hackie Pack cases looks nice. Thanks for the link, Clarinetcat.
Re: Whistle case question...
I can second the suggestion for those Hackie Pack cases. I have one that has slots for 8 (I think) whistles, plus room for music books and other stuff. The slots can also hold more than one whistle, and the cases really wear well and do the job! I know she can also make custom cases for you if you tell her the specs of what you're looking for.

I tend to sit on things, so this is my way, using plumbing bits and suitable sized bamboo. I also use a stick bag, being a drummer in another life.....

Like the bamboo tube!
Bet you have trouble getting the PVC tube on airplanes though. I use a similar PCV pipe for an electronic bagpipe chanter. Once found myself in a small room with several large Canadian Mounties demanding that I — gently — open the pipe and display the electronics and the "timing device" that the security x-rays had shown. I landed up having to play Amazing Grace to convince them it was OK to board.
Best wishes.
