At first I thought it was a variation on
Farewell to Erin, but I think it's a distinct
tune. Tough one.

I don't have any of my John Doherty recordings here at work, but it sure sounds like one-a-them-thar Donegal highlands that he plays on The Floating Bow or the other recording I can't recall the name of.

Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

Actually that was helpfull cathy.... a clue...
The other cd is 'the celebrated recordings'. I have them both but the floating bow is out on loan. Possibly http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/1114
need to listen again....

this is tune called 'low higland'. it is common tune in donegal, specially among fiddle players. marin
this is highland tune.
