Post by Silent Piper »

Hi!
Can anyone here tell me where to get the sheet music for this tune?
The name of it is Cailín Deas Crúite na mBó, Or "Young Girl Milking Her Cow". I've have foud it on Youtube played by pipers, and I have also got it on a record with Finbar Furey in his younger days.
Best regards,

Tell us something.: I’m changing my location to my actual address. My previous location was a reference to Joyce’s Finnegans Wake.

That air is presented in tutorial form in NPU's second volume of "The Art of Uilleann Piping" and the sheet music is provided in the accompanying booklet. You can find it here:

Hope the Ab key isn't a hindrance. :tomato:

That session.org page has ABCs from various books. O'Cannain transcribed it in his Trad Slow Airs of Ireland book, of course - that's the best book for settings of these melodies. Or you could just learn it by hear from a traditional performer such as Patsy Touhey, Finbar Furey, or Judy Garland.
