flutes on ebay (mar 22)

Post by tucson_whistler »

so i found 2 interesting things on ebay... not the seller, can't help you with questions, but you can contact the seller thru ebay... whenever i've contacted the seller, they've always been forthcoming (admitting defects, or, in one instance, that the flute was made in pakistan :) anyway, there's an olwell up for sale:

Olwell Irish Flute for sale by original owner
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 500wt_1182

starting at $1000, no bids yet, 3 days left. seller says it's "large holed/Pratten style" with no defects.

also... this is for sale: update, as noted elsewhere on this board, this is already gone
Skip Healy 6 key Irish Concert Flute
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 500wt_1182

in the buy now or make an offer category. seller says it's a "6 key flute in Cooktown Ironwood"; comes with 2 heads, a new one and one repaired that had a crack, also with an expensive case.

i searched for skip healy on youtube, there was nothing! i searched this board; he seems well regarded, does anyone know where i could listen to a recording of his? his website says he's grammy-nominated...

thanks...
eric

He's got LOTS of sound clips on his site - www.skiphealy.com - under the "music" tab. Just click on one of the albums...

hey, thanks. took me a minute to find them, but i kept looking until i did. i downloaded something called "Covering my Tracks #1 "Swallowtail-Fifty Cents" from Empty Pockets" and listened too it; interesting--the song plus outtakes/editorial on the recording of the song. he plays the two tunes at a pretty lively clip, with snare drum accompaniment. fun. :)

thanks!

ah, Skip is a bit of a force of nature, eh
Picture a bright blue ball just spinning, spinning free
It's dizzying, the possibilities. Ashes, Ashes all fall down.
