The World's Largest Tin Whistle band!

Post by Mitch »

http://www.illawarrafolkfestival.com.au ... histleBand

Those in striking distance (and cut and roll distance) should attend.

Last time they did this, they only got 99 players. and it didn't get recognised - lets make it 100 plus - and make it count!!!!

If your in the east coast of Oz (or beyond) let's get this record humming!

I'l be doing workshops on the tunes at the festival - plus Johnny Spillane (The Ausie one) plus Pam Merrigan - both adept whistlers.

I'll be conducting workshops at the folk-school, at the festival and on the music-train from Sydney. Get on board!

Hit the site - learn the tunes and be part of the record! Travel if you can!! It's one of the most vibrant folk festivals in Oz!

Free D whistle if you need one at the gig - contact me for registration details or follow the prompts from the link.

This is not a comercial post - it is a call to every whistler who can -> let's get the record!!

And lets's break it every year from now!!

I will personally not proffit from this event - I just have a love for whistles - this event will help the profile of our favourite tin leprechaun ;) More whistlers means a better world in my book!

And let Europe and America go better! (so Oz can beat them next time!)
All the best!

I'm so disappointed, Mitch. I wanted to see a band playing the world's largest tin whistle.

Hey MT - I think Erle Bartlet has that one .. or maybe Daniel Bingamon .. Neither one of them will talk to me if I got a tape measure!

You wouldn't beleive the amount of politics that happens whenver one mentions more than a hundred of anything!
Whistlers will rise above and get it going regardless!
All the best!

Wish I could make it Mitch, but I've used all my leave time up in a recent motorbike trip up north and then a recent (voluntary and totally unrelated)) trip to the hospital. Both of which were two weeks each. No more time off now till about April. I will have to make myself free for the 2011 attempt.

Just as long as there's no audio. Ouch! A two-whistle band is about the maximum I'm willing to tolerate.
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

A little older as I am, I had to have my tonsil's out. I was one of those unusual people, who, instead of getting over tonsillitis as I got older, kept getting it more often. After getting it for the fifth time in a year I booked myself into the nearest private hospital.
The good thing was that I was still able to practice the whistles after the Op...Everything else was just plain agony though.

Still wish I could head down South to the Illawarra festival. Should have posted this two months ago Mitch  .

Heh - I just love folk-band-names - specially the ones that get thrown together for the gig.
