Tell us something.: in two words, Rudall & Rose. but since a minimum of 100 characters is required, I should list a number of makers I found extremely interesting… I don't even know how much are 100 characters...

That's a good question. I remember hearing him play some duets on Clare FM or something a couple of years ago, but I don't know what he's up to now. He sounded grand.

P.S. I just got a note from Compass Records this morning; they're having a $10 sale on a whole bunch of really good stuff ..... https://app.e2ma.net/app/view:CampaignP ... cfe668efca
... but no Tom McElvogue. :-(

Here's where his music Web site used to be: http://www.tommcelvogue.com/music/
It's still there, kind of...and does have a listing of tracks for a CD that was to be out in 2004 (including a couple of MP3s).

There are a bunch of his original compositions here: http://www.tommcelvogue.com/music/compositions.html

I really like his playing!

I've learned some of his tunes off that very site.

Some good stuff that.

Hey Bretton-
Thanks for that link for McElvogue's original compositions. I'd never seen it before and quite like many of them. Appreciate your sharing!

Tom used to post here on the flute board now and again and had some great insights. A "McElvogue" search might turn up some of his posts.

Nice nice nice flute player. I hope he's doing OK and having fun!

I recently found some Outtakes from his alleged CD at:

http://www.tommcelvogue.com/music/OutTakes.html

Well worth listening to (as long as you also read his notes on them).

I saw Tom last week, he tells me that the flute album is being mastered (as we speak) I don't know if this indicates a release but it is another step in the right direction! He is also doing a rare concert in Dublin tomorrow night which I was going to attend but I've turned into a recluse.

Details at;

http://www.pipers.ie/events/_090901Session.htm

A preamble from someone says......

A wonderful evening of traditional music is guaranteed in the Cobblestone Bar in the heart of Dublin on Tuesday, 1st September 2009 when piper Séamus Ó Rócháin, fiddlers Tommy Peoples, Tom Morrow, accordion player Dermot Byrne and flute player Tom McElvogue take to the stage.
Séamus Ó Rócháin is an extremely talented fiddler and takes part in the Willie Clancy festival each year. Séamus will be joined on stage by a very talented flute player Tom McElvogue

I hope it's true that his album is imminent.

He's my favourite flute player of all time!

I've had the pleasure of playing a few sessions with him, but haven't seen him in about 9 years.

Paul - I'm being very careful in what I say. I know for a fact that the recording has gone for mastering, I hope too this indicates an imminent release date.

Well, there's always artwork, clearing of mechanical licenses (unless they're all his compositions plus some tradition tunes), and actual manufacturing to do.

We can always make them here (U.S.).

indeed, last I heard from Tom it was headed to mastering.
I can't presume it will be anything less than a terrific recording.
Tom is incredibly talented.

When's your #2 coming out, Paul?

Hi all,
tracks are indeed in the mastering process however I don't anticipate a huge delay in getting to the finished product. I'm busy working on the website etc which is why it is off the air for the last couple of weeks. I will post a message when all complete and a big thank you for all your patience.

I have to say I played the new Holmes & McNaughton for the gig I did last night at the NPU in Dublin and it was great. Thanks to Norman Holmes for getting this in my hands, hopefully more recordings will follow once I get the first one "out of the way" so to speak. It's been a long hard road!

Thanks and Regards,
Tom McElvogue

Hi Tom,

Good to hear about the CD. Let me know if you need any help on the U.S. side.
