source for Ukrainian sopilka or dentsivka?

Post by mabman »

Hi there, interesting site.

I have become interested in Ukrainian folk whistles/flutes, namely the sopilka (end-blown non-fipple 10-hole chromatic) and dentsivka (fippled 10-hole chromatic).

I've been searching around and thus far I've been unable to find a source that specifically advertises/makes them (that are not cheap tourist souvenirs).

I have made enquiries with Erik Sampson and David O'Brien (who I found through searching forums here) about modifying their quena and penny whistle designs respectively (resulting in more-or-less a sopilka and dentsivka), and discussions are on-going (both very nice to deal with, by the way).

However, in the mean time, I'm just wondering if there's a source for authentic sopilkas and dentsivkas that I'm missing that someone here can point me to.
