Hi,
Could anyone tell me where I could find the music or ABC for I Am Sleeping, Do Not Wake Me? I've already searched the archives and JC's Tune Finder and came up with nothing.

Thanks,
Jenny

If you want an mp3 version send me an email to remind me. We played that at the Rocky Mountain Session last July and I have a recording.

It is also on the 110 Irelands Best Slow Airs book But it is under it's gaelic name, so you won't find it under I am sleeping, do not wake me. Hope this is helpful.

This old thread has a link to ABC stuff. Since I don't yet use ABC I don't know if it will help or not, though.

Tell us something.: I became interested in the beauty and versatility of Irish whistles and music over 20 years ago when I first found the Chiff boards. Yes, I do have WHOA, and I love my whistles. :)

Jenny,

I think I have this tune in my "110 Best Tinwhistle Tunes" book. If you want a copy, send me a private message and I'll email the sheet music to you.

If it helps, the Irish name for the tune is "Taimse im' Chodladh, is na Duistear me".

Thanks everybody! It IS on "110 Ireland's Best Tin Whistle Tunes", which I have. I missed it because it's listed under the Irish name.

Brian Lee, thanks for letting me know what CD to look for. I read that Paddy M. played it at Ground Zero, but I didn't know it was on one of their CDs.

That's what Paddy claimed at the Denver concert back in January. He played it then too, but on a low whistle (G or F maybe?) instead of his pipes.

Very moving nonetheless.

This is a fine old air--my favorite recording of it is by Planxty.

If you ever play this on a keyed flute or other chromatic instrument, try cutting the low D's with D-sharps, and try cutting the sustained low G's with A-flats.

It gives a very unique sound to the air, reminiscent of the pipes.

Best wishes,
