Congratulations or Condolences?

Post by fyffer »

Please feel free to offer me whichever you feel most appropriate, but I believe I have finally been smitten/bitten by the WhOA bug.

This weekend I purchased two inexpensive Generations, one in Bb and one in Eb (high). I'm a fifer (see name at left), so the Bb was a no-brainer, and I wanted the Eb to play along with some recordings, where they dare play tunes on Eb flutes and whistles, just to mess with my head. They have a very nice sound for the $19 I spent for the two of them.
And, to top it off, I've figured out a little ditty where I can play them both at the same time (no, not just parallel fourths - that sounds terrible). If you use your pinky, you can cover 4 holes at once. :o

Do I need help, or congratulations?

The Eb Gen is a terrific whistle, but with the wax tweak. Here's some nice playing on a Bb Gen:

Tell us something.: "Tell us something" hits me a bit like someone asking me to tell a joke. I can always think of a hundred of them until someone asks me for one. You know how it is. Right now, I can't think of "something" to tell you. But I have to use at least 100 characters to inform you of that.

The Eb is by far my favorite Gen. Never could really get the Bb to sing for me. The high G is "fun" too.

Not at less than $10 each! My wife can't possibly complain about that kind of spending for instruments (though I do need to start warming her up to the Swiss piccolo that I will likely be purchasing within the year ...).

Key words piccolo fife Bosler
Which maker and model are you looking at?

Are you looking at one of the Oesch piccolos?
