Fintan Vallely Recording

Post by gododdin »

Hi all

Just ordered Fintan's book "Timber - The Flute Tutor" from amazon.co.uk (4 weeks wait!) which gets good reviews, and I was reading that there is a recording which goes with the book but it's difficult to get. Anyone have any idea where I can get this, or if there are maybe plans to re-release it on CD? At least I've got 4 weeks to find it... :)

Thanks

OK, I guess it really is impossible to get hold of. If I manage to find it anywhere I'll post something here.

I feel your pain. A few years ago I searched the web for months before finding it and as it was so long ago I can't remember for sure where I found it but I believe it may have been on Amazon.com.
I would reccommend the MadforTrad tutorial as well as Skip Healy's "Have Ye This One" CD's.

Edited to add. I think I actually got the Timber Flute Tutor tape at Ossian.

I'm pretty sure I got mine (a few years ago) at Lark In The Morning.

If anyone would like the book, I have a copy that is like new. I bought it for $14 plus shipping, but I would sell it for $10 with shipping included in the USA.

It appearsn to be a nice book, and simple enough to learn with, but I'm just not much for book learning, it seems!

Rama - that would be brilliant if you can find it. I live in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland though (which is quite a long way from NY ) and I'd be happy to cover postage (or maybe send you something Hebridean in return?!). What do you think?

Thanks for the tip Toughknot - I tried Ossian (US and IE) but no luck there. Also drew a blank with Lark In The Morning :sniffle:

Not the cassette you're looking for, but at least you'd get to hear Fintan Vallely play.

i found the tape version of the "timber" flute tutor. i am not in need of it. if you send me your mailing info via a *pm* i can mail it to you ( i probably would have sent it to you even if you lived in new york). as for payment in return, i ask that you simply perform a random act of kindness, preferably towards someone you don't like or don't know (excluding me of course), deal?
