The vacation of my dreams, only 18,500 Euro

Post by Henke »

This is my dream vacation. To fly in a MIG-25 at 3 times the speed of sound, up to the stratosphere at 25000 meters above sea level. See the blackness of space on a sunny day, see the curving of the earth and feel the power of one of the most amazing aircrafts ever built.
Just 18,500 Euros away :P

Here's a video clip, well worth watching if you turn down the volume and save yourself from the tasteless music

While Eddie Van Halen is a superb guitarist, that song is truly awful. The 80s did a lot of good things for rock music, that song wasn't one of them.

When Nate was in Civil Air Patrol, there was someone that would land a reconditioned MIG at the airport occasionally. I was sitting out by the tarmac one night when he took off - god, was that LOUD!!!!

I was surprised at how small of a plane they are!

The loudest plane I've ever heard was a Vulcan bomber at an airshow in the 90s. It flew low over the crowd and the the sheer volume was immense.

The russion had a MIG display team there as well, they weren't as good as the Red Arrows.

Go for it, Henke! Of course, to have that kind of money at your disposal you will have to stop jerking around and get a real job that earns real pay. :D

fockit, I like loud aircraft aight, but it has to be able to fly at 25000 meters.
I believe that makes around 80,000 feet.
damn, I'd give anything to be that high up. seriously.
18500 euro's. no problem. if i had it...

There are several contests and giveaways for similar trips. This is one of them. I haven't looked at all the details, so don't know if non-Americans can enter.

Back in 2005, Volvo gave one trip on the yet to launch Virgin Galactic as a prize:

I am sure there will be more free trips given away as prizes as the launch date for the spaceliners comes closer.
