differences between Native American Flute and Flute?

Post by legolas »

Hi
Thank you for reading my post
Can some one please explain about differences between native american flute and Flutes, Piccolo and Simple system Flutes?
They looks like a simple system flute which is keyless, but i do not know about how its tune will be.

Thanks

Native American flutes are end-blown whistles and not transverse flutes, although they are considered flutes in the more generic classification. NA flutes are often tuned in a pentatonic scale, whereas most simple system flutes, like Irish flutes, are usually tuned in a diatonic scale with six open holes. There are variations to both NA flutes and Irish-style, simple-system flutes. I'm sure that someone will clarify this better than I can.
