Of Pride and Envy

Post by Joseph E. Smith »

These next series of photos are a source of great pride and envy for me. My wife set a goal, and saw it through without so much as batting an eye. I am extremely proud of her and just a little envious (I'm too fat to tandem jump  ).

I'm just insane enough to disagree with that narrow-minded sentiment about "why would anyone jump out of a perfectly good airplane," so I think Laurie totally rocks! Your pride in her is sweet (and your envy understandable). Good on you both.

I've always wanted to jump, but I'm SOOO scared sh*t of heights that I could never do it.

Good on Laurie.

You know, we have to be grownups and deal with the software bowdlerizing our cusswords, but it seems a shame that it spits out prefixes and suffixes too (such as -less), so what's left is not only robbed of colloquial richness, but ungrammatical, too.

Funny as it sounds, Laurie is terrified of heights. But she said that at 15,000 feet, it doesn't feel or look the same as say peeking over the edge of a 5 story building.

Don't fret, Joe. I'd be happy to shove you out a plane any day. :D

I'd rather be atop the foothills than beneath them.

emm, they're all standing??? :boggle:
I had a friend of mine do her first jump way back in the 80s and she did it sucessfully. She tucked and rolled (or what ever they do upon landing) gathered her chute and promptly steped in a gopher hole, twisted her ankle and had to have a cast. Needless to say, there were some sharp words when she told her mom what she was doing.

That's really cool. Also cool that you supporte her interest.

Hey, that's awesome Joseph! I've always wanted to do that; wound up taking glider flight lessons instead. It's the next best thing to skydiving.
Cheers,
Mark

If she was not a Mods wife I would have said that she has got some balls to do something like that.

Well done Laurie

You mean they used to be yours. They're hers now. After all, look who jumped out of the airplane... :D

I'd love to skydive if somebody else paid for it. Ya see, I have these flying dreams quite frequently...
How do you prepare for the end of the world?
