I think Sinéad O'Connor's newest album, a whole CD of religious reggae covers, recorded in Jamaica, is a super wonderful thing. Everybody should buy it.

Hmm...The Lion And The Cobra (her first album, before she became really famous) is pretty angry, as are parts of Universal Mother. "Fire On Babylon," a song about child abuse, is one of the angriest (and most beautiful) songs I have ever heard in my life.

She retired a few times. She retired from music when she became a Catholic priest in the Latin Tridentine Church (she taught religion to school children during this time), then she later retired from the Priesthood. And she also retired from music again when she felt she was becoming too famous again. But she always comes out of retirement. With the latest retirement, she has said that since she came out of it, she is only going to record religious music.

I've been waiting years for her to record a country/gospel album. I believe her voice would be stellar for such a thing.

flanum, "Throw down your arms" refers to guns. She's telling us to throw down our weapons and not to make war any longer.
