My Lambe drones -
Image

Made for me in 1992.
Mostly brass bass drone, sound okay. Nice drone switch easily flicked on or off with bottom hand thumb during tunes. Fairly budget in appearance, ie, brass tubing for slides as opposed to brass ferrules over wooden slides in better quality pipes. However in combination with my Maclolm McLaren composite reeds they are as steady as a rock, never fail to turn on, no varience in tone with pressure difference and have taken many a beating during festival and pub gigs.

Cheers,

Well, given that the subject of the page was my pipes, I was fearful that my natural beauty would detract from the pipes so I cropped my sqaure-jawed, dimple-chinned Adonis from the pic :D

Alas no pipers gathering for me this year. New baby, new drones, regulators on the way. Money, money, money. Thinking about East Coast Tionol in late Sept. Might see you there. Anyway, better not hijack this post.

Here's a photos of my old Lambe set. They were a solid set. The chanter wasn't bang on in tune with any makers reed but close enough for learning on. The drones were rock solid and the regs got going eventually with new reeds and loads of blue-tack. I ended up using a Martin Preshaw chanter with the set which was a very good combination. I sold it to get my K&Q Taylor style set... mi amore!

Patrick-

How many Cape Cod Cloths did it take to get the set looking like that?
I recall more of an "antique patina" when you were playing that set
