CP: New! Black Diamond Whistles

Post by Doc Jones »

They're here! Black Diamond Whistles...the newest whistle line from master whistlesmith Erle Bartlett of Austrailia.

Several years ago Erle exploded on the Irish whistle scene with his remarkable Syn Whistle. Now he has created the next generation of Bartlett innovation.

The Black Diamond is a sleek, responsive whistle with good volume and just the right amount of chiff to create a complex and wonderful traditional tone. The back pressure is perfect...not so much as to be a hard player, but just enough so that the whistle can really be pushed without jumping octaves or getting out of control. Air requirements are moderate to low. It is a wonderful instrument and sure to rise in popularity.

There are some photos and more info here:

Any one else think that this post was going to be about the return of the brassy diamonds on Clarke whistles? no? Just me I guess. :)

So sorry! I had no idea.

I wonder who had to clean up the mess.

Tell us something.: I've been playing whistle for a very long time, but never seem to get any better than I was about 10 years ago. I'm okay with that. :)

Man, those look a LOT like Gary Humphrey's excellent Delrin headed whistles which I finally got to play at the NE Chiff and Fipple gathering.

I also played several Syns and was very impressed.
