Paddle your own canoe...dots, midi, mp3

Post by MarkB »

I am looking for the music for the above title, I have the lyrics. Mudcat Cafe has it sung to the tune Rosin the Beau but not the tune I heard. The Wolftones do it but I don't have their recordings. I believe that Kevin Conneff sings it on a Chieftains album but don't know which one.

Anybody got any ideas?

Being a kayaker and 58 going on 59, I really love the lyrics to this song!

The Chieftains got the tune from Denis Murphy. A recording of him playing it is on the RTE CD, it is called the Humours of Mountcollins there. He follows it with Chase Me Charlie (the Cock of the North) which has funny words as well.

If I had a wife to take out me life, I tell you what I would do
I'd buy her a boat and put her afloat and paddle my own canoe.
