What am I to make of this?

Post by Bloomfield »

I am a bit puzzled, frankly. Any insight is appreciated.

I used to prefer the wider bore whistles, but I find myself inreasingly drawn to narrow-bore whistles. I like the balance between octaves better and I feel that they give you more control; which is the same thing as saying that they require more control.

Overtons are hard to adjust to, mainly because you need to support your breath, something only a few whistles require. Once you've put the work into that, though, switching between whistles is not a big deal, I find.
For posterity....

I dropped StewySmoot a pm:

Yo, Stewy, would you mind taking that out of the sig? It's getting a bit silly.

Thanks.

Best,

Stop needlessly badmouthing Kerry Whistles and I will be more than happy to!

Smoot
When have I needlessly badmouthed a Kerry whistle?
To paraphrase Slip Mahoney: Leave us not get off on the semantics of "needlessly"....

If you choose not to buy Kerry Whistles, so be it. If someone posts a msg about an OS Chieftain, let it be. No need to mention it in a thread for someone trying to sell an Overton.

If you want me to drop it as a sig, dont badmouth someone else's product.

That is all I ask.

It's a tough one. I think you're being asked not to badmouth Kerry and Chieftain whistles.

You've asked to have your quote and name removed from his sig. He's demanding, I guess, you not be critical of Kerry whistles. That is odd and ill-mannered behavior.

Here you go StewySmoot:

I completely agree with Bloomfield's statement about Overtons. Add my name to Bloomfield's in the sig.

I have no opinion on the whistle, but heck, add my name too -- what the hell!

You did well not to finish Berger and Luckmann. You'd have done better not to even start.

Seriously, I'm amazed at the way this stuff goes on as though there were no history, or, more bizarrely, as though it were the Overton fans who are keeping the feud going. I won't say any more than that.

Jeez, I sure hope I end up liking the narrow bore I just bought!

BTW, I sold my Chieftain to help pay for it. :P

Can I be on some list?

Is this time now?

PS: Semiseriously, did you PM Stacey and ask her to take off her bodacious tatas during the time they were in her avatar? Let's have some consistency here!

Since they weren't my bodacious tatas I didn't think I had grounds to complain. :)

Has Stacey been posting lately? Haven't seen anything.

Isn't this OT?

Bloomie, I'm not sure what to make of your request to Stewy. Are you asking for the quote to be removed because you since edited it, and thus the quote is a misquote, or because you no longer hold the opinion quoted?

Cool....and MY name was involved in starting it!

Supporting breath is firming up your abdominal muscles so that they control the breath, not your diaphragm. They're stronger, less easily tired, and steadier in the task, and make for a better sound regardless of the instrument your pushing air through, be it a whistle, trumpet or your own vocal chords.

In regard to bouncing breasts, totally off the subject, I don't mind saying that I ceased reading all posts that have that sort of avatar. Juvenile, and tacky, and after tolerating it for long enough, I realized that none of the posts were worth the reading anyway.
