Just for fun?

I have found a very inexpensive flute, and I was wondering whether I should get it as a "just for fun" istrument. I don't plan to do anything special if I get it, so it wouldn't be my "good flute." Should I do it? A picture and description are in the following link.

If you think $40 plus S&H is worth the risk of buying a flute that will possibly not play well or in tune. But then it could turn out to be OK.

You could make one from PVC for a lot less than that. Heck, you could make a dozen. Still, at that price, it is tempting.

If not build one out of PVC, for a little more you could by a Tipple which is made of PVC. It will play well and be fun.

I have looked at Tipple's flutes, but that wood just draws me right in!!

I'm with Jon - I bought one of those flutes from the exact same company...thinking my experience with making bamboo and PVC flutes would give me the skills to fix it up into a decent player.

It was a pile, a steaming evil pile, and like Jon said...not fun.

I like to repair instruments and as a Great Highland Bagpipe player I wanted something quieter so I thought why not see how good/bad these Pakistani uinstruments are (this Flute was definatley made in Pakistan dont kid yourself). So I bought "Parlor Pipes" from that same company on ebay and they were bad beyond all expectations I have not recived my refund I sent them back about a week ago the service isn't too bad they got here quickly and they happily excepted my proposal for a refund/return I might have bought a Bodhran from them which is also crap pretty bad but not that bad. Yeah it will not be fun if they don't send an essential part to the instrument such as a cork and judging by how the drone reeds in the Pipes were simply bamboo with slits that wuld never in a million years work it is likely to happen. I got a PVC Flute which I am looking to sell I will PM you.
