Wooff/O Raghallaig tv doc on TG4

Post by Cayden »

The piping documentary around Caoimhin O Raghallaig and Geoff WOof will be on TG4 on sundaynight 10 o clock. As far as I remember from the stories when they were doing it Ronan Browne, Geoff and Sean Talty ended up playing the three Harrintons (though obviously not together) for it (and got pissed after). Should be good stuff.

RTÉ has a fairly poor selection of tv shows on tape for sale. Does TG4 have a web site for selling these kinds of programs?

Thx,

The obvious www.tg4.ie should be able to tell you more

IN fact it will tell you:
Ceird an Cheoil
Na Píoba Uilleann: Tugann an clár seo léargas dúinn ar an áileacht a bhaineann leis na píobaí uileann. Is siombal iad d'Éirinn féin agus de chultúr na tíre ar fud an domhain. I measc na gceoltóirí a bheidh ar an gclár beidh Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh, Tony McMahon, agus Mick O' Brien.

A simple "no" would suffice. Thanks for the link, though.

And just after that show at 2200, there's this:

00:25
Siar an Bóthar
In this week's edition of Siar an Bóthar we see Noel Hill on the consertina and Tony Linnane on the fiddle from the series 'Donncha at Bantry House'. There is music from Paul Brady, Edel Mc Weeney and Roma Casey in Co. Longford in 1978. We also see The Quinn family from New York, who were recorded at the RTÉ studios in 1965, and a song from Éamonn Ghráinne Mac Ruairí from Tory Island. (Repeat)

It might be worth an e-mail to them... I know they sell videos from the sporting events that they televise.

Thanks, I have already emailed TG4 to see if they have anything to offer for sale, as there's nothing on their web site. They offer streaming webcasts, but its not clear if that's for all shows or only a few. I won't be around when the Ceird an Cheoil show is on. Does anyone know of any software that can be scheduled to record streaming webcasts when you're away? Is TG4 a part of RTÉ or is it separate?

TG4 is a subsidiary of RTE, but from what I've seen (and heard from an employee to whom I am related) they (TG4) are bit of a 'red-headed stepchild' to RTE.

Their sports page has a link (for e-mail) regarding the purchase of videos.

Try this addy: info@videos.ie

That WebTV bit is subscription service, and is for those shows only. (Wow, 3 of them!)

Understand that TG4's budget is a fraction of what RTE's budget is. Theirs is a pretty small market.

G'luck.

NPU had a preview of the programme during the WIllie week, they may be able to help out?
