Tell us something.: I love Irish music and I love to play the whistle! I met Dale and now he is the main man of whistlers. I can't wait to get back on the road again as this coronavirus is the worst!

Hi Dale...

Don't forget to announce who the high queen on the right is - Mary Bergin! I'm the lady in red on the left! In case anyone is interested, that shot was from our little impromptu concert in the Catskills which I'll be teaching there at Irish Arts this summer if anyone is interested!

All the best,
Joanie Madden

If this was bluegrass, the price of brass & red generation whistles would be skyrocketting right now, as everyone rushed out to get one "just like Mary Bergin played.."

There'd be a whole bunch of earnest theories explaining that the plain brass finish produces a "much more traditional" sound than nickel-plated whistles.

Soon there would be a market for vintage brass generations from the seventies, and prices would climb still higher. Generation would attempt to cash in by issueing a "master model" generation whistle in brass, and would declare the brass & red plastic combination a trade mark, sending their lawyers at any company which attempts an imitation.
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

Please come back to the Potomac Celtic Festival in Leesburg, Virginia. It is one of the only ones we get to go to each year.

Tell us something.: I used to be a regular then I took up the bassoon. Bassoons don't have a lot of chiff. Not really, I have always been a drummer, and my C&F years were when I was a little tired of the drums. Now I'm back playing drums. I mist the C&F years, though.

I'm hoping this is where they hatched an idea to make a CD together.

Ms. Madden,

Please inform your friend that her hands are backward and her bottom pinky is not steadying the whistle.
Furthermore, she looks like she is blowing the whistle out of the side of her mouth instead of centred correctly.
These are essentials for improvement if she ever expects to play lively reels.
