TIT: The Dingle Set

Post by L42B »

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get the music for 'The Dingle Set' (you know the tune the Chieftains play). It's one of my favourites that they play, apart from 'Around the House and Mind the Dresser' (third track on An Irish Evening DVD). If you also know where I can get the music for that as well it would be excellent.

This might be the last post for a while as I'm still on holidays in the UK.

You may have to search for the tunes in these sets individually. Try looking for them on:

Off the top of my head, no. Are they in the liner notes of the recording?

It's been a long while since I've listened to these recordings, so I cannot say exactly what the tunes might be. Sorry for the lack of help.

The Chieftains' "The Dingle Set" from the album "Water From the Well" consists of: Tom Billy's, The Gladstone, The Star Above the Garter. These are all common enough reels, and should be easy to find in most collections.

My taste in shirts rarely, if ever, gets respect from other musicians... but I do get a lot of questions pertaining to how the surfing has been in my neck of the woods. :D

Joe, I have a shirt similar to the one you have and you are as close to surfing as I am. I was sitting here thinking that the closest we will ever get to surfing without having to travel is local SWAMP SURFING.
You and Me, Bro, surfin' for gator......YEEEE HAAAAAA!!!!!!
What a mental image!!
