Hi all,
I recently purchased a Sony MZ-R700, used on E-bay. I tried it out last night at the session. Everything sounded fine except for my flute. It seemed to be recording quite hot as it was the closest instrument to the Mic. I think I read somewhere, but can't find it now, that the earlier Sony models did have some sort of db limiter that made louder sounds distort or clip. Does anyone have this model and have experience similar problems. Also is there a recording level control on the darn thing. I would like to just record at a lower level but can't seem to change it manually as it did not come with instructions.
Any help or advice would be grand.
Matt

You can download the manual in PDF form from here. I seem to remember it having a manual level control.
As for the other I'm no help, sorry.
