Whistle Case Recommendations?

Post by franfriel »

Hello Gang,

I'm looking for some options for whistle cases - single and multiple whistles. I'd be grateful for your wisdom on the subject.

Also, what is the best thing you've found for swabbing out your whistles?

Thanks!

Peace,
Fran

If you want something solid to protect fragile whistles, search the forums for "pistol case" or "rifle case". I think there's been some stuff in the Flute forum a month or so ago.

If you want a soft "roll", try Cavallaro or the drumstick case that is sold in thewhistleshop.com. They have other interesting whistle pouches there too.

That's easy, buy a nice hard Poll Cue case from any sporting goods store... or pool hall. You could probably fit two low whistles in one cue case.

I use the box from a litre botle of Irish Bushmills whiskey. This is exactly the right length for a Sop D whistle. I have put 4 lengths of foam pipe insulation inside and with these and the gaps between, I can carry 8 whistles. Cost nothing, well if you ignore the cost of the whiskey!

Makes a cool talking point in the sessions too! Not to mention a few disgruntled looks from the landlords before they realise that it doesn't actually contain whiskey :D

One of those 12" long flute/recorder swabby-out thingys available from any good music shop is the best. It is what it is designed for!.

I have one of these and it was a great investment. It's inexpensive and the quality and workmanship is excellent. I've even thought of buying a second one.

My wife has made all of my whistle cases. She makes them out of cloth and has made several for me in simulated leather....They are economical and beautiful...of course she knows what she knows what she is doing....as for me I don't have a clue. I have know idea if she would want to make them for others...but she has made them for all my low d's and other whistles I own.
